That shift, along with a new 4K 240Hz Mini LED panel, defines the 2026 Scar 18—but it comes at a price that may make buyers think twice.
The Cooling Overhaul That Changes Everything
The 2026 Scar 18 is thicker and heavier than last year’s model. At up to 35 mm tall and roughly 8.2 pounds without its 450W power brick, it’s unapologetically a desktop replacement. But at a starting price of $4,999 for an RTX 5090 configuration with 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, the value proposition is narrow. The 2025 Scar 18 with the same GPU launched at about $4,000 and is still available at some retailers. Unless you specifically need quieter operation or the 4K display, the older model remains the rational buy—it performs within a hair’s breadth and can often be found at a steep discount.

If you’re considering a purchase, start by checking 2025 Scar 18 stock and pricing. A quick search may save you $1,000 or more for essentially the same gaming and productivity muscle.
If you decide on the 2026 model, set the default power profile to Performance and forget about it. Reserve Turbo only for benchmarks or competitive sessions where every frame counts. Disable multi-zone backlighting when you’re on battery to stretch runtimes past four hours, and keep the 100W USB-C charger in your bag for light office work—but don’t expect to game on it.
